The importance of source separation can not be underestimated!
There is little point in collecting contaminated organics. Organic feedstock with either plastic, metal or glass in it will not produce a useful end product. Our customers care enough for the environment that they want to see the value in their organics be converted into useful soil conditions for our depleted soils, not sent to stagnate in our landfills where the only contribution to our environment is the emission of methane into our atmosphere and leachate into our waterways, not to mention taking up valuable landfill space.
We can educate our customers and they can educate their households to only include organic materials (generally anything that was once living), into the ventilated organics recycling bin. However once the bin is put out on the street waiting for collection, any passerby or neighbour can put rubbish, degradable doggy bags, nappies or bottles into the bin.
The unique gravity lock on the Eenee bin allows the waste contractor to empty the bin without delay, but restricts access to the bin at other times to only users with the key. Once safely back in the householders yard, the key can be left in the bin if wanted for easy access.
